I am honored to serve on the SISD Board of Trustees. My main focus is on the students and staff at Shallowater ISD and as a board member, I want to ensure that decisions made are in their best interests while also being fiscally responsible to our community. I just completed a successful campaign in November of 2020 so you know education is my passion. I have 31 years of experience in public education and the private sector. I continue to be involved in education at Region 17 Education Service Center working with districts with their Title IV funding and school safety. This makes me uniquely qualified to help with the challenges we are currently facing in public education. Our district continues to be one of the top districts in the state and I want us to continue in this direction. The key to this is maintaining the quality staff at SISD and providing them with all the resources and tools needed to ensure their success.

My passions and goals in education are:
• Retain the quality educators at SISD.
• Maintain our facilities.
• Continue a high level of safety and security for our students and staff.
• Ensure that our students and staff have the technology and resources for blended learning and 1:1 devices for all students.
• Produce students that are college and career ready with access to courses for dual credit and certifications.
• Sustain our A+ school district with wise and responsible use of district funds, while adapting to the evolving needs of our students.

I have been in public education for 23 years serving as a classroom teacher, reading specialist, GT teacher/coordinator and assistant principal. I have also worked in the education industry in the development and implementation of a personalized learning solution for schools and in analyzing data to improve instruction. I am currently employed by Region 17 ESC as an Education Specialist where I work with district personnel regarding Title IV, Part A funding and school safety improvements. I know first-hand the obstacles teachers and administrators face on a daily basis. But more importantly, I am a parent and grandparent. I wanted the best educational atmosphere for my kids and now for my grandson. I have the experience and I am prepared to make hard decisions for SISD to continue moving us forward on the path of academic excellence.
