Shallowater ISD is committed to the safety and security of all students, staff, and visitors. The district police officers, director of safety, and SISD administration work in cooperation with area first responders in the responsibility of the following areas:

  • Campus safety audits
  • Liaison and coordination with other emergency response agencies
  • Coordination of all criminal investigations
  • Video surveillance
  • Safety and security training
  • Canine dogs

A school crisis can take a number of different forms including environmental events, such as a chemical spill or gas leak; a weather emergency such as a tornado; or dangerous activity happening near the school. The nature of a school crisis dictates whether school administrators will put in place a hold, shelter, lockdown, secure, evacuate, or any combination of these protocols, as a means to ensure the safety and well-being of our students and staff.

Important Information

  • It is the policy of the Shallowater ISD Police Department to conduct unbiased policing in all contact between officers and any person. This includes traffic stops, pedestrian stops, and all contact initiated by an officer for investigative purposes of any kind.  No police action shall be initiated based on a person’s race, ethnicity, or national origin.

Racial profiling is defined as a law enforcement-initiated action based on a person’s race, ethnicity, or national origin rather than the person’s behavior or information identifying the person as having engaged in criminal activity.

The SISD Police Department annually reports racial profiling data to the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE).

Any person wishing to file a compliment or complaint regarding any contact with an officer should contact Chief Brad Rumfield at brumfield@shallowaterisd.net or (806) 832-4531 ext. 6002.

  • In accordance with Education Code 37.105, The District has the right to refuse entry to or eject a person from property under the District’s control if the person refuses to leave peaceably upon request and:

    1. The individual poses a substantial risk of harm to any person; or
    2. The individual continues to behave in a manner inappropriate for the school setting after having received a verbal or written warning to cease the inappropriate behavior.

A person ejected from or refused entry to District property under this provision may appeal this action by filing an appeal under the appropriate board policy:
