School Closure through April 3rd

Yesterday, our Governor extended school closures for the entire state through Friday, April 3, 2020.  Please don’t hesitate to contact Dr. Border at with any questions, comments, or concerns.  He will respond to each within a 24 hour period.  Thank you.   We will schedule special board meetings as necessary dependent upon changes with these times.

I want to assure you that we will do our best by our students, yet we are going to make mistakes. I ask for your grace as we maneuver unchartered waters as it relates to providing quality instruction to our students outside of the confines of the classroom walls and school buildings.

We will have a pull-up location on the north side of the high school each morning (7:30-8:30) next week for breakfast and for lunch (11:00-1:00).  We will also be running four buses to the different bus stops to deliver breakfast and lunches to those who are there.  These buses will leave from the high school each morning at 7:45 to deliver breakfast and leave from the high school each day at 11:15 to deliver lunches.  Teachers, if you desire to ride a bus and assist in this activity, contact Kenny Border.  We will not need more than 8 volunteers each day.

Ultimately, the safety of our students and faculty is premiere, thus the faculty and staff of Shallowater ISD will not be reporting to the district, just as our students won’t be either.

The following events are cancelled or postponed:  Kindergarten graduation is pending, all banquets (Athletic, Academic, etc.) are pending, Middle School Cheer Tryouts (All originally communicated dates are on hold), Prom is canceled, and our high school graduation ceremony is pending.

Kenny Border, Ed. D.

Superintendent, SISD
